To my fellow Lincoln Tower Association members,

Here up north, the leaves are falling from the trees, the days are getting shorter and the weather forecasters are uttering those horrible words: “polar vortex.” It's time to get back down to Florida and warm up in the bright sunshine. 

We had a very busy summer at the Lincoln. We replaced our cooling tower and large rusted-out circulation pipes on the roof. We repaired the fountain and painted around the pool area. We made numerous repairs to our roof in the hope of finally eliminating a persistent leak affecting the penthouse floor, and we made some wonderful improvements to the appearance of our lobby and social room.

As we look ahead to the coming season, we will be embarking on a number of essential projects that will make the Lincoln a better place to live. Thanks to your overwhelming approval, we will finally be improving the appearance of our tired-looking hallways. In addition, due to the need to meet state-mandated requirements, we will be updating our fire alarm system and renovating our forty year old elevators. The fire alarm work will begin several weeks before the hallway renovation since it will involve drilling into the hallway walls and possibly running wires along the crown moldings. Because the fire alarm installation will affect how the elevators respond in the event of a fire, the elevator renovation will follow the completion of the new alarm system. Currently, we are exploring ways to ease our financial impact. We will have more to report on this in a few weeks.

With all this work going on, I hope that we can continue our efforts to improve the community feeling of the Lincoln Tower. We will be looking for volunteers to continue our monthly cocktail parties and periodic barbeques. The Lincoln has always had a stellar reputation as the best place to live in The Lands of the President and I hope that over the coming season we will do everything we can to keep it that way.
